Diets For Quick Weight Loss
Yes, we have all heard of diets for quick weight loss, “fad” diets? They are still an expression of people who look to make a quick buck from others. Diets for quick weight loss or “fads” have been around ever since people started being uncomfortable with their weight or shape. These diets usually do result in temporary weight loss, but will not keep the weight off.
The reality is that there’s no magical trick for quick weight loss, however, one can lose weight fast without resorting to any of those fad diets available out there. Here’s how:
Quick Weight Loss With Increased Metabolism
Your body works on the same principles as computers do: Garbage In Garbage Out (GIGA). So, in the spirit of GIGA, try and get most of your calories from lean protein, whole grains, nuts, fruits and vegetables. I cannot stress this enough!
Traditionally, people have had and still believe that dieting is about cutting down on calorie intake. It has been medically proven however, that when your system notices a decrease in good calorie intake over a considerable period of time, it will break whatever little carbohydrates at its disposal and store them as fat. The system will in turn reduce the basal metabolic rate to conserve energy, leading to more fat accumulation.
So, the first step in achieving quick weight loss is actually to increase your metabolic rate (by eating the right food) to suite the energy requirements of your system.
Balanced Diets For Quick Weight Loss
Do you prefer salty potato chips and fries, or maybe you have never met a dessert you didn’t love? You will have to tame your junk food junkie tendencies. Don’t get me wrong though, junk food is fine in moderation and on special occasions, but not those cravings that tend to hit you at the most inconvenient of times. Are you aware of them? Tame them now!
Once you’ve gained the unwanted weight, you can easily lose a pound a week just by sticking to a balanced diet, or two pounds a week if you add in some exercise as well.
Exercise And Quick Weight Loss
Most diets for quick weight loss don’t include any form of physical exercise. BIG MISTAKE! They encourage you to lose weight rapidly by eating very little (read the metabolism section above for the truth). While that can lead to a quick initial weight loss, the weight will come back even before you start to eat normally again. Plus, diets for quick weight loss don’t provide the same health benefits as a balanced diet and exercise do.
Experts agree that the best exercise routines include cardio and strength training. Three to five hours of cardio exercise plus one or two hours of strength training per week are enough to make significant changes in your body shape and fitness level.
Exercise will also improve your mood, help you sleep soundly, make you stronger and leaner, and improve your balance. It also protects your heart and wards off metabolic disorders like type 2 diabetes. These are perks that diets for quick weight loss cannot offer.
Stay Off Diets For Quick Weight Loss
Don’t put your body through the stress that Fad diets will put it through. At best, you’ll end up tired, hungry, grouchy, dehydrated, and heavier than before. At worst, you could seriously damage your metabolism, making it impossible to lose weight even when you eat very few calories. Read the ‘Increase Your Metabolism’ section above to understand why?
To maintain a healthy weight, your body needs to be healthy. Feed it right, move it often, and give it the hydration it needs (lots of water and green tea right through your day) to perform at its peak. To put it bluntly, you will not arrive at a permanent solution to your weight gain challenges through diets for quick weight loss.
