Welcome to the “about us” page where you will find out a bit more about who’s behind the scenes here at obesityadvice.org and how the website came about.
The purpose of this site is to research and compile information on difficult to resolve subjects with the aim of distilling the myths and setting the record straight.
Obesity falls directly into this category. Just look at some of these statistics:

There are similar trends developing across Canada and western Europe, in particular the United Kingdom. Roughly 46% of men in England and 32% of women are overweight defined by a body mass index of 25-30 kg/m2, and an additional 17% of men and 21% of women are obese defined by a body mass index of more than 30 kg/m2.
The problem gets worse with age. Roughly 28% of men and 27% of women aged 16-24 are overweight or obese but 76% of men and 68% of women aged 55-64 are overweight or obese.
Overweight and obesity are increasing. The percentage of adults who are obese has roughly doubled since the mid-1980′s.
